Description
The Honda MN-V electric crossover appeared on the Chinese market in 2020. Its dimensional characteristics are as follows:
- Length – 4.32 m;
- Width – 1,785 m;
- Height – 1.64 m;
- Wheelbase length – 2.61 m.
The car is equipped with light alloy wheels of size 215/55 R18.
Design and interior
The Honda MN-V is equipped with LED headlights with a characteristic predatory “squint.”
This electric crossover is assembled at the Dongfeng plant. Therefore, the Dongfeng logo is installed on the hood, but, in fact, this is a Honda car.
The interior of the Honda MN-V is the largest among direct competitors with similar dimensional characteristics (Huindai Kona, Peugeot e2008, Toyota CH-R). The spaciousness of the interior is achieved due to, firstly, the highly curved roof, and secondly, the efficient use of interior space. The interior is fully leather in all trim levels. The cabin also has large electronic screens for climate control and a multimedia system. Their interface supports English, unlike the dashboard, where all information is presented only in Chinese. However, the information on the dashboard is intuitive.
Trunk volume – 300 liters. The trunk window has two recesses that increase the driver's visibility when reversing.
Battery: range and charging time
The Honda MN-V electric crossover is equipped with a built-in lithium battery with a capacity of 61.3 kWh. The supplier is CATL, the world's largest manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles.
The certified power reserve of the battery is 480 km. The battery supports the recuperation function (converting braking energy into electrical energy). Thanks to this, the battery's charge is partially recharged.
Fast and slow charging functions are available. In DC fast charging mode, the battery is fully charged in just over an hour. In slow charging mode from a household outlet, the battery is fully charged in approximately 10 hours.
Construction
Honda MN-V is, in fact, a deep restyling of another electric crossover Honda XN-V. The crossover is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with a power of 120 kW (163 hp) with a maximum torque of 280 Nm. The engine is mated to an automatic single-stage transmission. Maximum speed – 140 km/h.
The electric motor operates in three modes - Normal, Eco and Sport. In the latter mode, the latter mode significantly increases the dynamics of the car, but at the same time the battery charge is consumed faster. Thus, acceleration from zero to 50 km/h occurs in just 4 seconds.
Safety
The Honda MN-V electric crossover is equipped with the following safety devices:
- ABS;
- EBD;
- Traction control system (TCS);
- Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA);
- Emergency Brake Warning System (ESS);
- Rear parking sensors;
- Rear view camera;
- Front airbags for the driver and front passenger;
- Side airbags for the front and rear rows;
- Isofix child seat anchorages.
The Honda MN-V electric crossover received the highest rating - five stars out of five - when testing the safety level from Euro NCAP.
Options
The Honda MN-V electric car comes in two trim levels - basic and top-end. In terms of price, the difference between them is minimal. The basic version lacks a sliding panoramic roof and roof rails, folding mirrors and wireless charging for smartphones.
